David Guetta (born 6:37 p.m. On the 7 November 1967 in Paris) is a French DJ. In 2005, his single "The World Is Mine", which contains a sample of Simple Minds "Someone Somewhere In Summertime", topped European dance charts. The vocals for most of his singles are performed by singer Chris Willis, except on "Baby When The Light" and "When Love Takes Over", where they were done by Cozi Costi and Kelly Rowland respectively. Guetta produced the Black Eyed Peas song I Gotta Feeling.
In 2008, he was elected as World DJ No. 5 and best house DJ by the British DJ Mag.
He has also been playing in many countries around the world to promote his 2007 album Pop Life. He played in Mauritius on the 12th of January 2008 accompanied by French rapper JoeyStarr of the French rap group NTM. In the same year, he and his wife Cathy also planned a new event which took place in the Stade de France on 5 July 2008.[citation needed] He performed with Tiësto, Carl Cox, Joachim Garraud and Martin Solveig in front of 40,000 spectators.
David Guetta's career started at the age of 17 playing hip-hop and house music in the nightclubs of Paris. Originally influenced by the hip-hop DJs he heared on France's Radio 7 station, he began DJ'ing at Broad, a gay club in Paris. From 1988 to 1990, Guetta was a DJ playing house music on Paris's Radio Nova.[5][citation needed] In 1990, he released his first single, "Nation Rap", a hip-hop collaboration with French rapper Sidney Duteil.
In the early 1990s, he played in clubs such as Le Central in Champs Elysées and the Rex Club. It was during this time that Guetta met American singer Robert Owens, who was touring in Europe, and played him one of his own demos. The singer liked one so much that he decided to sing the vocals for it. Released in 1994,"Up & Away" was a minor club hit[citation needed] and is considered as one of the pioneering records of the French house genre. Also that year, David met his wife Cathy Guetta DJ'ing at Les Bains Douches and together they organised parties at the Bataclan theatre in Paris. In 1995, David Guetta became the artistic manager at Le Palace nightclub and he continued to organise parties there and in other clubs.
Since 1996, David Guetta has also held events in Ibiza. "We were the first French to organise in Ibiza" he remembers, "It was different back then. The English DJs were laughing at us, but I was friends with Daft Punk and Cassius and one day they became famous".
One Love is the title of the fourth studio album by French DJ, David Guetta. It was released onto the official iTunes store on 21 August 2009 and will be released on CD format on 24 August 2009 throughout Europe and 25 August 2009 in the United States.
